Introductions

Review and Approval of Minutes ?V Lori Blake
October 3, 2007, Minutes were approved and seconded.

Review and Approval of Financial Reports ?V Reviewed by David Beasley. 
A/R:  Florida Rock ?V Keith Sommer; Rinker (Cemex) ?V Jeff Jones will call Shelton; Folsom ?V Nancy reported they??ll pay for one student (the other stayed for only two weeks); Tri-Tech ?V check is in mail

Financials were approved.

Executive Director??s Report ?V Nancy Merced

Nancy welcomed our new member, The Weiland Davco Corp. 

Nancy has picked up one half of the student packets from the schools and will pick up the balance next Monday.  Nancy will then register students with DOE. 

Annual Breakfast ?V
2007 - $20 per person at the Citrus Club
2008 - $22 per person

It was decided that ACT will charge $25 per person and $220 for a table.

Nancy will use money from the marketing budget to again produce the laminated ACT cards to give at the breakfast.

The Breakfast is January 9, 2008.

County School Reports
OCPS ?V There are approximately 45 electrical students at Westside and four HVAC at Mid Florida Tech.   OCPS and SCPS sent several instructors to NCCER training 10/17/07 and will now develop a plan.  The curriculum is very expensive. ?V Harvey Levine

Osceola ?V There are four schools with ACT:  Osceola High, TECO, Harmony High, and New Beginnings.  As soon as receive paperwork, will have actual numbers. 

Seminole ?V Joe is absent due to surgery.  ACT will send a card.

Construction Career Days is March 25, 26, and 27 at the Orange County Fairgrounds.

Teach-Ins:
OCPS ?V next Wednesday
SCPS ?V November 15
To participate, talk with the school you want to visit.  Talk about careers in construction and all the opportunities.  Giveaways are good.

Old Business Update
Golf Tournament ?V Now March; not December.
 
Marketing ?V Kevin Corrado was absent.  The letter is ready to go.  Per David Beasley, there is a meeting on 12/11/07 at Lyman High School for Seminole County high school guidance counselors and a meeting on 12/17 at SCPS administration building for Seminole County middle school guidance counselors.   There is a breakfast meeting for Orange County high school guidance counselors on 12/19 at Mid Florida Tech..  We need a meeting date, the total number of students, and the total number of sophomores from Tom in Osceola County. 

2008 Election ?V George reviewed decisions of Board and announced new members.
 
Membership Fees ?V The membership unanimously decided to hold 2007 fees for 2008.

Perkins  - OCPS hasn??t determined the amount they??ll give to ACT in 2008.  Harvey doesn??t know when this will be determined and would impact after July 1.  Pat requested OCPS standards that ACT should be meeting.

Budget ?V Reviewed by David Beasley.

Nancy will check for additional outside funding sources for similar program like the community partners sponsored by Albertsons.

The budget was approved.

New Business

A committee was formed to write Nancy??s 2008 contract:  Members are David Beasley, George Kania, Pat Walker, Kevin Corrado, and Mike Cornelius.
